Blog Every Day In April: SENIOR YEAR EDITION

April is here and that means it's time to record my thoughts every day for a month! BEDA has been a spectacular way to document the end of winter semesters. I've been doing it since freshman year and have never regretted it once.

Some things to look forward to in my April posts:

• More thoughts on Lorraine leaving
• The very beginnings of my New York stay
• Mentions of saying good-bye to various friends who graduate this month
• Hopefully the story of one last road trip before leaving all spring
• Pictures and words about longboarding
• Sharing of things I've cooked lately
• Complaints about finals week
• Name dropping of all my favorite Provo friends. I'll even start now. Here are names of some people in Provo who are near and dear to me: Ben, Peter, Jeffrey, Lorraine (always here in spirit), Becca, Stacy, Cameron, Margo, Ryan, Bethany, Bronwyn and Angela.

So there you have it. BEDA has begun. I do hope you enjoy the random plethora of posts to come for the next 29 days. I know I'll enjoy writing them; at least, I'll enjoy writing most of them.

Blogging every day in August

I have no idea what to blog about. Whatsoever. I've been wracking my brain for days trying to think up something good for this first post. I figure it's best to start out strong so that I'm more likely to end strong. But I've got nothing.

It's just crazy how fast August has come upon us. I can't believe it's already time to blog every day this month. I've been doing BEDA for literally years now. It's been a great help in documenting the beginning and end of various school years.

So I guess I'll end this post here. Sorry for the brevity but I'm quite hungry and there's not much else to say. Just know I'll be writing something on here every day this month. I assure you it will get more exciting. (I hope.)

Hellloooo BEDA

It's that time again! Time to blog every day in April. I very much so like this month for this reason.

Well, I'm going to start with a run down of the weekend.

This was General Conference weekend, for more on that you can visit this place or this one. Basically, it was time for some spiritual rejuvenation. I don't really like when people describe it in that way but it's probably easiest to explain it like that. It was quite lovely, though; I mean, it always is. I got to spend a lot of time w/ my friends/neighbors because of it. Since conference goes for two sessions a day on Saturday and Sunday, I was with them for pretty much all of yesterday.

Once the afternoon session was done yesterday, we went to Cafe Rio and got delicious salads and went on over to the park and had a lovely picnic and watched the sun set. Yesterday was in the high 70s so that was fabulous. We also got ice cream once the sun had gone down.

Then all I did that night was a little homework and I watched Doctor Who. I finally finished series 6. I watched all of them right after they came out up until The Girl Who Waited. After that one, I just kind of . . . didn't watch for whatever reason. Mostly I think it was because I a) got busy with school and stuff and b) the "and stuff" included a great friend who gave me lots of other things to do that were at least as fun, if not more so, than watching Doctor Who alone.

Today I watched conference alone, but that was quite lovely. All of my roommates were gone and it was a time for me to just be by myself. That doesn't happen too often at college.

Tonight was amazing though. A bunch of Wisconsin people got together for dinner at the house of a family who used to live there but now moved to Utah. When I say a bunch I mean at least 15 or 20. The family had so much food for all of us. There was: kabobs with chicken, shrimp, peppers, onions and pineapple; apples with caramel cream cheese dip stuff; carrots, salad and cucumbers; fresh guacamole and corn salsa and chips; oranges and strawberries and yogurt dip; two kinds of cheesecake and chocolate brownies. In short, IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS. Being with Wisconsin people was also fantastic. Pretty much everyone there I've known since I was, like, 12 or younger. It's crazy to think that we're all in college now.

And now I'm just back at my apartment watching YouTube videos and doing a bit more homework. Once the homework is done, I'll be devoting my time to watching Sherlock. These are all great life choices, I know.

As far as school is concerned, the semester is totally and completely over on April 19. That's the last day of exams. Classes end on April 11. I thought last semester went fast but this one went ridiculously quick. It's both exciting and kind of sad. It's exciting because so many more of my friends will be coming home from their missions starting in May. It's sad because yet another year of college has gone by. I'll be a senior in no time. The thing that got me through this semester was the thought of my freshman boys coming back, and now that it's really starting to happen is super weird in the best way.

BEDA 1: It's the 1st of April

Okay, so for those of you who are unfamiliar with BEDA, it stands for Blog Every Day in April. Maureen Johnson started it. And it is exactly what it sounds like. Basically, I write something every day. And you (supposedly) read something I write every day. Make sense?

It's currently 64 degrees F. What a beautiful day. What is it about all these great spring days that they REALLY start when exams are close to beginning? My last day of classes is the 13th of April. Exams start the 16th and go through the 21st. THEN I GO HOME. Crazy.

I spent much of my afternoon thus far outside. I had lunch w/ my old roommate who I am completely in love with and we had the greatest time catching up as we always do; we sat on a bench on campus just talking. When I got back to my apartment I got my history books and a blanket and laid outside in the grassy courtyard reading. And now I await the time at which my friends and I will go play frisbee at the park. It's going to be marvelous.

There really is nothing better than a beautiful day when school has been quite the drag. Everyone seems burned out and professors are piling on those final papers and projects before the actual final exams roll around. (What's their deal?)

Before the days get snowy once again, which is very possible in both Utah and Wisconsin, I'll do as much longboarding and soccer/frisbee playing as I can. Spring is such a weird time, weather-wise and because of other things. School is ending and I can barely wait to get home yet I always wish to stay a little longer with my college family. Baseball seems to begin earlier every year and March Madness lasts even longer. Last year I was finishing up freshman life and now I'm preparing to become a true upperclassman. Last year I was also figuring my way through one pretty weird relationship as school winded down and at this time I rely solely on letters from him for communication.

Spring brought all of these interesting events. Always a lot of see you laters and definitely some good to see you agains. That's cool, though. Spring is pretty great. Though let's not even get started on next spring, for that will be a time of utmost happiness and wonder. I cannot wait.
