Normally I have SOMETHING I want to say on this blog. But tonight I honestly have nothing. It's not that I don't want to write. I'm going over and over in my mind anything interesting I could possibly put down that would allow it to pass for a decent blog post.
But I've got nothing.
I did just read another person's blog post about the "friend zone" which is a subject I could go on about for AGES but that would mean not going to bed anytime soon. So look forward to a post on the supposedly dreaded friend zone in the near future.
For now, I'm off to bed. I've much to do tomorrow, namely finishing up multiple pages for a fake magazine. InDesign and I have a love/hate relationship I'm pretty sure.

Back in the old apartment
I arrived in Utah this morning. I'm dead tired, of course. I'm definitely looking forward to an afternoon nap, which is a nap that might just turn into a full night's sleep. I haven't decided yet how the sleeping will go.
So I ended up napping for about 2 hours and then right after I got up Mckenna and I got J Dawgs. It was quite wonderful.
I've just been watching YouTube videos and Arrested Development the rest of the evening. I should probably start packing up a few of my things. I guess that's something important. Sorry this post is so short; I'm just too darn tired to be eloquent tonight.

Can I have my best friend back now?
I technically started this post before the 9th but whatever. I've spent a lot of time thinking today about how what I need in my life right now is my friend Matthew.
For the most part things have been great, but that just makes me want to share all the good things with him. And when things have been not so great, I want him around to help fix it all. He doesn't exactly fix my problems but he makes me feel like anything is possible and somehow says the most brilliant things. He is also an amazing hugger.
Yesterday was both wonderful and difficult. I thought more about him yesterday than I have in a long time. All of my thoughts were concentrated, I suppose. That would seem the best way to describe it. I think about Matthew every day but this past Sunday my mind was especially filled with thoughts of him. He's coming home in June and that's basically two months away now, which is such craziness. His letters have brought some of the greatest comfort and happiness over the past two years. So much has happened these last two years and I think some stuff would have been a lot easier if Matt had been around, but that's not how things work. I'm grateful he's been around at all, even if it has just been in small, handwritten notes.
Besides Matthew, I also thought a lot about my best friend from home on Sunday, though that was because we talked on the phone for almost an hour. We rehashed a lot of life and summer plans. Talking with her is always wonderful and I never want our conversations to end. She's been incredibly supportive through these last two years as my friends were gone on their missions. Now they're coming home she's almost as excited as I am, or so it seems at times. It's amazing. She's seen how important they are to me and to my life so they've become important to her as well. It's one of her greatest talents.
Aren't best friends fabulous people?
The last thing I have to say has to do with new music. I need some. Well, maybe I don't need new music but I need to be reminded of some good music. Lately I've felt like I'm stuck in a musical rut. For the last few months, basically all I've listened to is Imagine Dragons and Julia Nunes. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to listen to them incessantly but I'm looking for more happy music. You'll remember in my happiness is a choice post that listening to happy music makes a wonderful difference. So give me all you've got as far as happy music is concerned. You guys know the kind of stuff I like, so I trust you.

Baseball and why I'll always love it
I'm even thinking back to figure out if my first memory of watching sports is of baseball or football. I'm pretty certain it's baseball. I think some of my first memories of ANYTHING are actually of baseball as well.
I don't know why my dad did it, but he made sure from a very early age that my brother and I were involved in sports, both playing them and watching them. Whatever he did worked because I'm now 20 years old and never fill out my March Madness bracket without talking to him first; we have hour long conversations about the latest NFC North division scores; every year for my birthday I get a new Wisconsin Badgers sports t-shirt. And though it's not a sport in a typical way, we go fishing together and love it. (I still have never taken a fish off a hook.)
Each season I make sure I have a sport to take up my time. Spring is full of college basketball and the beginnings of baseball. Summer is all baseball all the time with a little tennis thrown in, and soccer depending if it's World Cup time; though much soccer is played all year round so I always have that. Fall is some more baseball, college football, and the beginnings of the NFL. Winter is all NFL and then college basketball. There's always a few that keep my attention. I don't know what it is about sports that keeps me so entranced while so many people see them as trivial and even moronic. What makes them so interesting to me? I don't honestly know. I just know that I am.
I call baseball my first love. From my 6th birthday to my 16th, I wished for tickets to the World Series. I don't know why I stopped. I recently decided that it's now my life goal to see every single MLB team play in their home stadium. I've got one down. So many people say baseball is the most boring sport. Yeah, I get that there are a lot of lulls in the game. Sometimes runs aren't scored for hours at a time. That's what makes baseball such an experience. Baseball games aren't so much about the game itself as they are about you experiencing it with those around you. I'll admit, watching baseball on TV can be difficult at times but even at its worst, with no action, somehow I still find it exciting. Then again, I'm the kind of person that wants to understand every aspect of the game. I want to know the history of teams, players, rules, stadiums, everything. All of it fascinates me.
It doesn't hurt that I live in a state with an exceptional team, either. The Brewers haven't always been as good as they currently are, but fans in Wisconsin are fiercely loyal, no matter how the team fares each season. They have, however, been on the brink of being something great in the past few years. The division is so very up for grabs, season after season, and it seems that this is the one. The Crew managed to nab the wild card spot a few years back but since then they've stopped short. This year is different. The Brewers, if I'm not mistaken, have THE BEST home record in all of baseball, having lost only 15 games at home the entire season thus far. This is incredible, seeing how there have been 56 games played so far at Miller Park. Out of 56 games at home, only 15 have been losses. THIS IS A BIG DEAL. Their record on the road is a different story but things have been looking up on even that front.
Are you starting to get a feel for how much baseball means to me? Now, I will do this sort of thing w/ other sports, get this excited and in depth and all around intense. Baseball is different though. There's just something about it.

Package.
It's great enough when you get letters from people. Letters like this one, that I got today.
What was inside the envelope, you ask? (Besides the epic three page letter . . .)
What's even better is that I didn't get JUST a letter. The letter came in this ginormous envelope.
Pictures of my friend at the castle where they filmed Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
There was this awesome tartan piece of cloth that was wrapped around the best part of the package itself. It seemed really random at first.
But then I unwrapped the cloth . . . And I found this awesomeness . . .
THAT'S MY FAVORITE CANDY OF ALL TIME. And I've only ever had Wine Gums when I was in England, when my brother sent some to me from South Africa, and when my friend who lived in England all last summer brought some back for me. And now my boy Jordan sent me some from Scotland. AS A SURPRISE.
I wrote to him about Wine Gums MONTHS ago. I told him he'd have to check them out while he was over in Scotland. Apparently he didn't think they were all that great but he knew I liked them a lot so he sent them to me. I don't like using smiley faces in blogs. At all. Ever. So just know that when I opened the package and when I was writing this, I was smiling like crazy.
All that's left to do now is write back to him <3
